Cameron Park Lake
The Cameron Park Lake recreation area, located at 2989 Cambridge Rd in Cameron Park, is a man-made lake created in 1951. The Community Services District took over the lake in 1975 and continues to provide enjoyment, relaxation, and beauty to all visitors. This recreation facility offers a 1.1-mile walking path, catch and release fishing, an 18-hole disc golf course, tennis courts, a playground, paved parking, and a Gazebo with picnic areas that are available to reserve for your special event. Dogs are not permitted at this park, except for service animals.
10/29/2025 - Community Update: Confirmed Avian Influenza at Cameron Park Lake
The Cameron Park Community Services District (CPCSD) has been notified that necropsy results confirmed the presence of Avian Influenza as the cause of recent waterfowl deaths at Cameron Park Lake.
Prior to receiving these results, initial field assessments suggested the cause might be avian botulism or algae-related toxicity based on environmental observations. Out of an abundance of caution, on Thursday, October 23, the District installed warning signage around the lake to alert the community to potential hazards and to advise residents and visitors to avoid contact with lake water and wildlife.
Since that time, the District has continued to work closely with Sierra Wildlife Rescue, California Wildlife Encounters, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to monitor the situation and manage the response. Crews are conducting daily patrols to identify, remove, and safely dispose of affected birds to help prevent further spread of the virus.
Out of an abundance of caution, the community is asked to:
- Stay out of the water and avoid contact with sick or deceased birds.
- Do not touch or attempt to move wildlife, and report any sick or deceased birds to District staff or Animal Services.
While the risk to humans remains very low, the virus can spread through direct contact with infected birds or contaminated surfaces. These steps are being taken to protect the health of residents, pets, and local wildlife.
The District will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Lake Fees
Entrance fees will be charged year-round, and the fees will help fund the ongoing maintenance of the park. The entrance fee will apply to any vehicle entering the park, including those using the Disc Golf Course. The cost of entry is $5.50 per vehicle, payable by credit card only, OR is included with an Annual Pass. We highly recommend the purchase of an Annual Pass as the fees generated support the many amenities provided by the Cameron Park Community Services District and provide the purchaser with additional benefits.
